iPhone Ebook Reader

Books.app is an iPhone ebook reader. It reads html and text files stored in media/EBooks folder.

At this moment I would hasten to mention that this is not an official iPhone eBook Reader.

Just for your information here, the iPhone is an Internet-enabled multimedia mobile phone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Apple announced the iPhone in January 2007.

The iPhone's functions include those of a camera phone and a portable media player ("iPod"), in addition to text messaging and visual voicemail. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. It is a quad-band mobile phone that uses the GSM standard, and hence has international capability. It supports the EDGE data technology.

Installing Books.app on your iPhone is not that easy. It requires jailbreaking.

Jailbreaking is the term used If you want to add third-party applications on your iPhone. You perform a task called "jailbreaking". This opens up your iPhone's file system so that it can be accessed from your computer. There are a number of tools available to jailbreak your iPhone and several other steps.

An iphone is actually small; it is about a third of the size of a paper back. It has a large 3.5" screen. The iPhone uses Safari as the web browser. Check for the specifications for the iPhone here.

You are able to read light grey text on a black background. You can even read in the dark.

There are also other ways you can read ebooks from your iPhone. You may save pages that you want from an ebook provider. You may also load an ebook that you want to read onto the iPhone.

In conclusion, what can we say about the Iphone as an ebook reader? Well, we can safely say that the iphone, besides being used as a phone has not yet reached that stage so as to be called as a dedicated ebook reader.
