The Ebook Cover Color is Determined by the ThemeWhat should be your ebook cover color?
If your answer is “any color I fancy,” you are very wrong. Not just any color will do. The color of your ebook should be determined by the overall theme of your ebook. Just take a look at professional covers to see what I mean. The colors used are consistent with the theme. Colors on their own can communicate. That is why something dismal or dull is described as being gray. Every Ebook written fits in one specific category. There are a broad range of themes, categories or topics that a writer can write, for example, religion, writing, love, human relationships, to mention just a few. Let us pick only one of these categories for the sake of example. Let’s say you write a book under the category of writing. What colors are consistent with this theme? The color you choose should tell the reader immediately what your book is about. I have come up with some different ebook cover colors. Take a look at them below and tell me which one suits for the category we have selected. Cover #1
Cover # 2
Cover # 3
Cover # 4
Which one did you pick? Was is Cover #1 or Cover # 2? Probably not. Why can't these two covers make suitable covers for the topic we have chosen? The colors are all wrong! For cover #1, black is simply not not right for writing! The impression one gets upon taking a glance at the cover without reading the title is: 'It must be a book about religion, or about the occult.' For cover # 2, red does not speak anything of writing. At first glance, one would think that the book is about love and men-women relationships. Do you see what the ebook cover color alone can communitcate? So be wary about the colors you choose! You may send out the wrong impression all together! Now let us take a look at Cover #3 and Cover # 4. Are these colors consistent with the theme of writng? Upon seeing either of them, one would immediately get the impression that they have something to do with writing, and when he reads the title, his suspicions will be confirmed. Yes, these ebook cover colors are consistent with the theme that the ebooks are addressing. So, it is not just a matter of selecting any color you fancy. Use of the wrong color will send out the wrong message, leading your prospecting clients to distrusting you, or ignoring your product all together! When designing a cover for your ebook, therefore, you have to choose a color that suits your target audience. Failure to do so will result in your product being invisible to those that you are targeting. I now leave you with a stunning 3D rendering of our ebook covers, consistent with our theme.
