STAReBOOK is a current ebook reader which uses the latest advanced technology. It was launched in December 2006. The reader is very potable to carry around as it is the lightest and thinnest reader manufactured as at now. It weighs 176g and has the thickness of 8mm. This beautifully designed equipment has gained popularity with users at the moment.

The reader is in the so called STK format (some special kind of image storage), which is used by the eREAD corporation, a Chinese company.

It has an SD card which allows you to add as many ebooks as possible. The reader has a storage capacity of 64MB memory. It has low power consumption. A charged battery will handle about 8000 pages. As a user, you can also compile your own magazines by using the accompanying eREAD editor.

With the help of the provided editor software one can be able to transfer the favorite books or articles into the STK format. These are later transferred to the ebook reader. The STAReBOOK has an in built MP3 play back which allows you to listen to the music as you are reading.

Navigating

Page navigation is outstanding; in fact it’s very fast. Book loading and page turning are faster than the contemporary readers. The screen will always show you the last book you read, and at startup you go straight to start reading the last book read. You can enter the number of any page you want to read and jump to that page to read it. The settings are simple. There is also the facility to choose the language and volume which you may prefer.

Reading

The screen of the reader is very small, 6” or 9cm by 12cm. The advanced screen of the reader makes reading of the ebook a pleasure. There is a facility for adjusting the font-size to suit your reading style. There are not more than 5 font sizes to choose from.

Good features

The text looks good; it has an E-ink panel (Electronic ink). Setting or checking your bookmark is just done by pressing the key. After pressing the key you are shown your bookmarks and can be able to view any that you want.

The downside

Unfortunately this reader only supports books in the STK format.
