You
can design professional ebook covers.
Hello, I am Michael Sinkolongo:
Let me let you in on a secret.
You can design professional ebook covers
using only basic graphics editing software such as Paint.net and Adobe
Photoshop.
No,
I am not making it up. You can actually create your own ebook covers
instead of spending plenty of your hard earned cash on ebook cover
software. In fact, you can do more than just create covers; you can
create professional covers.
With your own graphics software you can:
- Design you own templates which you can
then use as a basis for your designs.
- Customize your cover to suit your target
audience.
- Compile a stunning 3D finish with drop
shadows.
I
greatly encourage people who set out to design their own covers for
their ebooks or other digital products. I am one such person. I find
that making my own designs is thrilling, exciting and fulfilling.
Furthermore, it affords me the latitude and flexibility that no ebook
software can.
Therefore, to all self-designers, way to go!
For
those who are just starting out, it can be quite a challenge – almost
like learning a new language, especially when you are not artistic by
nature.
But if you are a newbie in this
business, worry no more. You have got nothing to fear (except fear
because that is the only thing that will stop you). I am going to learn
you all I know. In no time, you will be happily designing your own
covers.
So, here is what I am going to do:
- I’ll give you great tips on how to design
professional covers.
- I’ll teach you a few tricks to help you
use your graphics software to the full.
- I’ll answer your questions on ebook
covers and graphics software.
- I’ll show you how to make your covers so
stunning that people will fail to resist to make the click.
Now, why is it important to create
professional covers for your e-goods? Well, do you now what a bad cover
does?
We
people almost always judge a book by its cover. If a cover looks
disinteresting and dull, we tend to think the book is just as well. But
if the cover is stunning, we will conclude that its contents are
stunning as well. In fact, the rule “Never judge a book by its cover”
is a rule people never obey!
So, no matter how awesome your content
is, as long as the cover is dull and disinteresting, your visitors will
not buy it. To make matters even worse, they will not even notice it!
Don’t start panicking yet. You can create
that stunning cover and boost your sells. You won’t even need to spend
money!
Seriously, you can do it. Take a look at the
cover I designed below. I used only Adobe Photoshop, my keyboard and my
mouse.
But doesn’t it take too long a time to do
that?
I can’t cheat you. At first, it can take an
hour or two. With an ebook cover creator, you can do it in a few
minutes.
But you see, I am really in for the fun of
it. It is amazing what you can do with just a graphics editor.
All
I really want is to prove a point: you don’t really need expensive
ebook cover software to create professional covers ( and some of it
will really cost you a couple of your precious dollars).
And
in the long run, the person who learns to use his graphics
editor
well has nothing to loose and everything to gain.
So let’s save a few bucks, turn savvy, and
have tones of fun!

Tip # 2: Choose the Appropriate Ebook
Cover Color
Some think that an attractive cover should have a lot of colour and a
lot of details. In short, the more complicated it is, the more
attractive. But that is quite wrong...

FAQ
- This is where I answer your questions
|
- I have Paint.Net
and I'm trying to figure out how to write the lettering for an ebook
cover. I can put the image in Paint.Net and write black text on it.
I know how to change the font size but I can't figure out how to change
the style and coloring of the font. The only coloring the font I can
get black, just like in word before you change the coloring.
Can you tell me what to
do, please?
