As A Man Thinketh In His Heart
As a Man Thinketh was written by James Allen in 1902. James Allen was born in Leicester, England in 1864. He wrote several books before he died at the age of 48 in 1912. At last, this ebook is now free. It was released on 1st October 2003 as a Project Gutenberg eText edition. Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7 The title of this book is based on the book of proverbs chapter 23 verse 7. According to the King James Version bible, the verse reads as follows: "Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words." In modern English? The rendition of the same verse reads as follows: “For as one that has calculated within his soul, so he is. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart itself is not with you. Your morsel that you have eaten, you will vomit it out, and you will have wasted your pleasant words.” Clearly, the verse here is referring to the thoughts of the other person, whereas, James Allen applies this verse to the self responsibility of each one of us as individuals. Importance of the Ebook The book is partly responsible for launching of an entire self-improvement industry. For example, many contemporary writers such as Earl Nightingale, Tony Robbins, Norman Vincent Peale, and Denis Waitley have greatly been influenced by this book. The massage in the book is that a man is “literary what he thinks” and he’s got power to be what he wants, which has an effect on his health and body. The first chapter opens with the following paragraph: “The aphorism, "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," not only embraces the whole of a man's being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every condition and circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.” Want to download the book?
